I’ve really been into my galaxy-themed swatches recently, and here’s another.  Based on 2001: A Space Odyssey, this collaboration from The Nailista Shop is lovely.  Picture Polish 2001 is a grey-blue scattered holo definitely reminds me of a far away place.

The holographic isn’t strong in this one, but it makes for a very subtle and classy work manicure.  I wore a teal blouse and cardigan with it today, and it worked perfectly.

I used two coats and top coat, but it was nearly opaque in one coat.  It was a pleasure to paint with, and didn’t stain my cuticles.  In fact it was really easy to clean up too.

This polish is similar to Winter and Autumn from Picture Polish, with it’s scattered holographic sparkle.  Winter is also grey, but much darker and without the blue tones.

If you want to add some nail art, some subtle stamping in white or silver holographic would look really effective.  It would also look good paired with other colours in the grey and stone colour family, if you want to try some reverse stamping with 2001. Since it’s so opaque, it is great for this technique.

I think this is a lovely polish, and if you like these types of blue-grey colours, you’ll enjoy this one. It’s not flashy or showy, just subtle and chic.  It’s perfect for a work mani if you want something different from the normal pinks or neutrals.

What do you think about this polish? Is it too subtle? If you like flashy holo or bright colours, it won’t appeal.  But if you want an alternative neutral, this slate grey is really nice on your fingertips.  The holographic pigment is muted but definitely there, and I think this will be a firm favourite of mine.
