This week I’ve got the second of three swatches of Chanel’s Spring 2018 collection. It’s a bright yellow, and if you like sunny colours, you’ll love Chanel Giallo Napoli.  I also compare it to my swatch of Chanel Mimosa – it’s the battle of the yellows!

I have to say, I don’t wear yellow polish all that often, but I love how bright and saturated this is.

Formula: Creme, no shimmer

Coats: Two for full opacity

Brush: Standard, fairly soft with a slightly rounded tip.

For my swatch, I used Jessica Fusion and Orly Bonder as my basecoat combination.  This polish is easily opaque in two coats, but the formula is slightly thicker than normal to achieve this.  It can drag if you go over the same spot when wet.

It doesn’t dry particularly glossy, so I used one coat of Seche Vite for my photos.

From my stash Chanel Mimosa is the only yellow I have.  It isn’t as saturated or opaque as Giallo Napoli.  This swatch is three coats, but I’d still see visible nail line if I backlit my hand.  I haven’t used it that often, but you can see it’s 50-60% used. That’s just from the extra coats needed!  I also used Seche Vite on top here.

If you like the look of yellow nails, head over to my yellow lace design, which is perfect for spring-summer.  It’s also good to see some nail art on super short nails!

Since I’ve only got one polish to compare it to, I added a bit of double stamping:

Even though its not a traditional combination, I added stamping in black and silver to my swatch so I had something else to share!

I used MoYou London Pro Collection 06 plate, and double stamped with Essie No Place Like Chrome and Painted Polish Stamped in Charcoal. I added a second coat of Seche Vite over the nail art too.

Stamped nail art in silver and black is an unusual colour combination with the bright yellow

Stamped in Charcoal is dark grey, not black, but it’s hard to tell over the yellow.

I’m really impressed with this polish – it isn’t chalky like a pastel, but really bright without being a neon. I’ll definitely reach for this instead of Mimosa when I want a yellow base in future.

I got mine from John Lewis. It’s still in stock at the moment as well, so I’d recommend grabbing a bottle if you can!

Yellow nails are definitely polarising, but I think they are great for warmer weather.  This shade would make for some great banana or minion nail art too!
