Fabiana set this challenge and it was based on an image of a decorated tree… I think she regretted a bit when she actually came to do her own mani! I went quite literal with my interpretation of Christmas Tree Nails

This photo is so pretty! But then it gets quite complicated when you start thinking about how to translate it into nail art.  I had a bit of brainwave to layer different polishes with stamping to create a pine needle effect with some depth. I didn’t know if it would work, but it did and I was so pleased!

I love the texture of the pine needles. I left it as just that for quite a while as I was wandering back and forth trying to find the right polish to create the fairy lights in the picture.  I’ve listed everything as I used it, so you can see how I built everything up in layers.

Fabiana and Mags had a similar idea to me, creating a pine needle base with ornaments. Fabiana used acrylic paints for a dreamy look, while Mags did some amazing fine outlining in black around the baubles.

Sarah went in a completely different direction, focusing on the red colours and layering stamping to build up Christmas tree images. That clear jelly stamper she has is being put to good use!
