I was sent this polish for review by Allison at Born Pretty Store. It’s a Thermal Polish which shifts from lavender to rich purple as the temperature changes.

I’ve previously had a bit of a love/hate relationship with thermal polishes, since I really don’t like it when they go transparent when warm. I hate having VNL (Visible Nail Line) exposed, so I was wary.

This photo shows this polish in a perfect transition from cool at the tips to warm at the cuticles. Having a decent amount of free edge will help you get the perfect thermal gradient, since your free edge isn’t directly warmed by your fingers.

It also shows the benefit of a thermal polish – a super easy gradient which requires no sponging or latex!

Here’s a fully cold photo. What you can’t see in these photos are the cups of water at different temperatures I dipped my nails in to speed up the thermal changes. Blogger secret there!

The next photo is kind of weird. It’s the transition colour without the gradient I think.

It’s striking though!

Born Pretty Store Colour Changing Thermal Polish #7

I had to add a bit of nail art – just a few polka dots which appeared and disappeared as the base polish changed colour.

Thermal Polish

This polish was easy to use and was opaque in two coats. The thermal pigment does make the polish feel a little different to work with, but I was really pleased that there were no transparency issues.

It reacted quickly to changes in temperature and all the colours it showed were good.

It’s a small bottle, but thermal polishes do tend to have a shorter shelf life, so I am happy with that.

Overall I can thoroughly recommend this product!
