One of the best things about summer in the UK is that, occasionally, you get brilliant sunshine.  It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it’s the right time to bring out your holo polishes.  Well, in my opinion it’s always the right time for holo, but don’t miss out seeing these polishes in actual bright, direct, natural light. If, like me, you can’t get enough of it, try this Holographic Stamping on holo for some ultimate summer nails.

Polishes and tools

My favourite base coat and top coat
Color Club Harp On It and Beyond
MoYou London The Pro XL 20
Clear Jelly Stamper The Big Bling

It’s no burnished holo chrome powder, but Harp On It is a great silver holographic polish.  I am using two coats for my base here.  It feels quite thin, and it isn’t as pigmented as Beyond, but it is still lovely.

After a coat of top coat, I move on to stamping.  This design needs a clear stamper, since I want the design in a particular position.

My nails are relatively short at the moment, but I wanted the centre of the fractal design close to the cuticle and centred on my nail.  I can’t achieve that without a clear stamper.

I love this macro photo, because it really shows of the rainbow sparkles of the holo base.  I use daylight bulbs for my photos, but the gif at the top of this post is in late evening sunlight and gives a hint of how bright these polishes blaze.

WARNING!  If you are driving with holo nails and bright sunlight, these nails are going to be a major distraction! I definitely kept my eyes on the road at all times. Ahem.

I am really happy to hear that Color Club will be coming to Rainbow Connection soon!  I will love to try their stamping plates and I need their latest holo polishes.
