This week’s challenge on Nail Art Nation was set by me and is Gothic-inspired nail art. Deep, dark and mysterious! I chose to do Gothic Nail Art with lace and roses, and a thermal peek-a-boo black topcoat, which has just the right amount of glitter. I love this design, because the thermal top coat gives it such a changeable look.

Nail art brushes
I started with two coats of Liquid Mirror as my base and then used my nail art brushes to dot Rouge Puissant as the base of my roses in one or two places on each nail. I added a few small swirls of Camelot and Rose Bower, because I wanted to give the roses a bit more depth. Ultimately, it wasn’t necessary, which is a shame.
Once they were dry, I stamped the lace pattern over the top and waited even longer for the stamping to dry and set. It still smeared! Oh well.
Finally, I topped it all with one coat of Bow Nails thermal polish and with one coat of Seche Vite top coat.

The photo above is in actual daylight (cue amazement) and shows it even closer up. Sadly that means the smearing is even more obvious.
I wanted to do a sweater photo, because I keep missing the Picture Polish Instagram competitions that actually call for that. Also, I have missed the narrow window in the UK seasons, which allows thermal polishes to transition nicely back and forth. This was a rare warm moment – mostly they’ve been opaque, black and glittering.
In the close up you can kind of see the details on the roses, so that’s nice!
