This design was a recent contribution to the Maniswap Circle challenge, where I recreate another nail artist’s work in a different colour. This month I worked on a design from Donna, using Rose Gold nail polish.

Donna’s original design was over magnetic polish, and I don’t have the same stamping plate as she does. I used my Mother Nature plate which has butterflies and flowers to be a replacement.

These were some of the most difficult photos to take! As I explained in my last post, I have cool toned skin, and rose gold polishes are all warm based. My skin generally looks pretty rubbish alongside them! There are definitely some odd yellow casts on my hands and fingers in places.

This was quite a straight forward design to create. After my base, I used two coats of Halcyon, followed with one coat of Seche Vite. The one thing I hate about Unt is that it takes so long to dry. A good fifteen minutes FML. I can’t be doing that regularly.

I tried to vary the position of the design on my nails (my suitable flowers and butterflies were only a little corner of my full design plate).

Once I have cleaned up, one coat of top coat sealed it all in.

Rose gold polish (and everything else) is super trendy right now. It’s everywhere. I’m not a huge fan of pink, and it doesn’t really go with my skin tone, so I’m happy to leave it for everyone else.

On the other hand, I quite like being different and bucking the trend.  I really haven’t gone down the route of a white, minimalist blog theme, and lots of flat lays on white marble. It’s something I mentioned to Talonted Lex in her recent post.

What trend can you pass right by? I want to hear in the comments below! Time to confess all…
