You probably already know that I like citrus scents as part of my nail care routine, so this is perfect. When I was asked to select a Babylon Tree Shea Butter Soap for review, it was an easy choice.

Litsea Cubeba and Bergamot

Bergamot is a familiar scent (part of my favourite Earl Grey tea!) and is an Orange that is green like a lime. Litsea Cubeba was completely new to me though…

Also known as May Chang, it’s grown in southeast Asia, and a lemony essential oil is extracted from the fruit. Perfect for soap making apparently.

The soap arrived in a neat little box, which will fit through the narrowest of letterboxes, and it was nestled in a handful of straw. Reflecting the natural ethos of Babylon Tree, the packaging and unfussy typeface feature on the cardboard sleeve around the bar.

I had a bit of a problem getting the sleeve off without ripping it (spoiler: I didn’t), but it revealed a pretty bar of soap, with a yellow, clouded face.

Citrus bar soap

I’ve been testing this soap as part of my nail routine. Because it’s a natural product, you won’t get lots of foam as you use it, but it cleans nicely and leaves a fresh, citrus scent.

It’s quite a firm bar, so I don’t think it will melt away quickly. I really appreciate the added Shea butter, because I have dry skin and like the moisturising qualities of Shea.

Babylon Tree offer a range of natural, vegan, artisan soaps all priced at £4.25, and 10ml bottles of essential oil priced between £3.99 and £4.59.

Along with lemony scents, I love sandalwood, so the white musk and sandalwood soap would be perfect for me too.
