Halloween: Pretty Little Witches
Over on Nail Art Nation we set a special “Scream Spectacular” challenge with a trick or treat twist… Each of the three daily prompts has a main theme colour that had to be chosen in advance before the challenge was announced! The first day is Pretty Little Witches…
I chose purple for my first day and I also brought out my most spookily named polishes!
Polishes and tools:
Christina Marie Handmade Witches Brew
Serum No5 Ultra Violet and Moonlight
Cirque Coven
Acrylic paint
Bundle Monster BM13
Konad SP Black
MoYou London Enchanted 16
Essie No Place Like Chrome
I used my Über Mat to create stamping decals, so that I could flip the stamping designs on my right hand. I think these were the most successful decals I’ve made so far – they didn’t break up on lifting and applying to my nails even though they were super thin. I applied them on to tacky polish underneath — it had been a few minutes and so had dried slightly — and I think this was the key. I’m looking forward to trying again.
I used two glow in the dark polishes, for the gradient and the moon, so they looked great in the dark too! I painted the moon freehand with quite thick acrylic paint, so it ended up with a slightly patchy finish. Once I added a single coat of Moonlight, the moon had the perfect finish – it looked just like it had craters and shadows right away.
Coming soon… “I see dead people” (tomorrow’s challenge)! My chosen colour is a nude-beige, so come back to see what I created!
