Since I’ve joined apolishedcolleen’s July Watermarble challenge, there was no way I could avoid a neon design. Since we’ve already established I don’t have any true neon polishes that cooperate, I decided to try a Pastel Neon Watermarble.

It wasn’t entirely a success, I think you can tell from the bubbles and bumpy surface!

Polishes and tools

Your favourite base coat and top coat
Cirque Carpe Diem
Color Club Disco’s Not Dead, Hot-Hot-Hot Pants, Feathered Hair Out To There, Diggin’ The Dancing Queen, Meet Me At The Rink, Til The Record Stops and Under The Blacklight
Rainbow Connection Zap
Pure Color Watermarble tool
Disposable cup and room temperature water
Tweezers

I decided to use the entire Color Club Poptastic Pastel Neon collection. It was not the best for marbling, as you can see!

I found the polishes a bit too thick, so although the first few drops spread, they didn’t after that. I ended up using two colours per nail, but worked my way through all the polishes.
Polishes do tend to bubble if they are a bit too thick to marble with. I could have added thinner, but I didn’t have much time to spend sorting them out.  These polishes are already quite lightly pigmented, so I think thinning them wouldn’t help their quality in the long term.

At least it was another chance to practice dipping in the right place for a starburst, which I’m finally getting the hang of!
I quite like the colour combinations, despite the bubbles.

Well, I’m glad I completed this day in the challenge, I wasn’t sure I would!  The design is a bit random and the finish is less than average, but I love the colours together.
