Over Christmas I was getting really frustrated with breaking off corners and a couple of nails starting to break really low. In a fit of pique, I cut them off really short and this is the result… I needed some nail art to remind me that spring is on the way – this Leaf Print nail art is just the thing!

Succulent inspired nail art – the grey-green shades remind me of succulents
Polishes and tools
Jessica Fusion
Orly Bonder
ILNP Clever Girl
MoYou London Tropical 10 plate and Key Lime stamping polish
Cirque La Tropicale
Seche Vite
Rainbow Connection Angled Clean Up Brush
I’m using a different base combination at the moment. My nails are recovering from when they were so short and I realised I owed a maniswap that I resorted to applying false nails. After a few came off I was a bad nail carer and basically levered the rest off. Don’t do this, it wrecks your nails!! As a result my nails are really prone to peeling, so hopefully Fusion will help.

I got a bit snap-happy with this design, so sorry for the photo heavy post!
After Fusion I used Bonder as a base for ILNP Clever Girl. It might be inspired by Dr Who, but I kind of hope it’s Jurassic Park! Both use that phrase, but I have a soft spot for Jurassic Park. It’s quite sheer, especially on the first coat, but I only used two. You might want more if you have longer nails are are wearing it alone.

This colour combination looks great on my short nails and reminds me spring is on the way!
Double stamping
After a quick clean up at the edges and top coat for smoothness, I stamped on this base colour. I picked La Tropicale and was really impressed with how well it does for this! I didn’t want to lose any holo with this design, and this is an emerald green shade.
On my feature nails (thumbs and ring fingers) I stamped twice, first with a lime green creme polish, and then La Tropicale on top.It really changes the colour doesn’t it!

Close up on a single stamped nail – it looks so different straight on the base colour.
These single stamped nails have a grey-green look that reminds me of succulents, but the brighter nails feel much more like spring. It’s definitely on the way, isn’t it? I am so sick of going to work in the dark, and getting home in the dark.
They’re nice and bright for my shorties too!

Leaf Print nail art
Stamping is quick, and by only double stamping feature nails, it keeps it speedy!
If you like this design, I have some more here for you to try as well. Have a go at my double-stamped palm design or these Pantone Green nails. Are you looking forward to spring too? What bit in particular – let me know in the comments.

Way back when I tried squoval nails they also broke constantly. I could also never get the shape looking quite ‘right’ on my own nails. I switched to oval and that just works so much better for me!

I think because my nails are all different widths, anytime I have oval/squoval the curves are all going to be different and look a bit odd. At least with a squared off tip I can get them all the same length cuticle to tip, so they all match.

Both colors are pretty but I am loving the green version. Its so lively and spring like.

I love the contrast of the two, but I agree, the bright ones are great!
