When you are short on time but still want to look polished, grab one bottle of gorgeous polish and get painting! I didn’t need to add any embellishments or nail art, so have a look at my AEngland Captive Goddess swatch – with some beautiful macro photos as well.
Fluid nail art is the latest trend to be adopted by nail artists. It’s inspired by fluid art, where acrylic paint is mixed with a little silicon, before dripping or pouring it over a canvas. The silicon helps to stop the paint from mixing, so you get little ‘cells’ of different colours appearing, and an organic forms and lines of colour from the movement of the paint.
There are a number of different techniques, using both normal polishes and some special ones. In this case, I used the Sinful Colors transforming topcoats with regular polishes, which are designed to separate and create the cells I mentioned. It’s definitely a more advanced nail art technique, but I found this way much less messy and less wasteful of polishes than others I’ve seen for creating fluid art. You could always limit it to one or two feature nails to make it more manageable.
The events in Manchester last week really shocked me. The audience for an Ariana Grande concert are young people and children, their parents, so it felt particularly callous to me. It’s part of my job to react and deal publicly with these sort of things. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a serving police officer or anything, but I did spend the whole day working on reacting professionally to the bombing, so when I got home all the emotions got to me at once. I decided to add a Worker Bee for Manchester to my nails, to show my respect and support in my own way.
I’m finally back with some new Chanel Spring 2017 swatches and these posts are always really popular content here. I thought that the colours they chose were more autumnal than spring-like, but Chanel have a new-ish creative director, so maybe that’s why. The last few collections, like Summer 2016, were kind of unexpected shades, unlike some of the candy-inspired colours you expect at this time of year.
I’ve really been into my galaxy-themed swatches recently, and here’s another. Based on 2001: A Space Odyssey, this collaboration from The Nailista Shop is lovely. Picture Polish 2001 is a grey-blue scattered holo definitely reminds me of a far away place.
As I promised some time ago, I’ve got another FUN Lacquer swatch for you, also based on a constellation. Cepheus is a very old constellation which contains nebulae and remains of old stars. If you’ve got a few minutes to google image search, it’s well worth your time. Much like the constellation, FUN Lacquer Cepheus has so many colours in it. A grey-taupe jelly base, with holographic particles and multicoloured flakies, it’s a stunner.
Ages ago (this post has been sat in draft for way too long) I created this maniswap for the circle. The colour prompt was grey and silver, and I chose this chevron design from sweetnailsbycandi. The pale grey and holo silver stamping created this chic and speedy design. I always fall back on triangles and chevrons , they just call to me somehow… On to my Chevron nail art…
I definitely see marble backgrounds everywhere on social media, it seems to be the default for flatlays and beauty bloggers. After seeing Jamie of Tanned Beauty Addict, who showed off her great marble nails on Instagram, I wanted to try White Marble nail art for myself!
