I got my hands on some of OPI’s new Liquid Sand polishes!

They dry to a textured matte finish, but have plenty of glitter too. Feels a bit like having sandpaper nails, which you’d lose if you added topcoat – so the labels all say “Do not use topcoat”.

First up, Get Your Number, which is a pretty blue/silver glitter in the bottle and you can see some holo in there too. I used some Nail Envy as a base coat then three coats of the GYN. The first coat looks patchy and odd and you need to let each coat dry pretty well or the next one just drags it off.

First photo without flash to show the texture, the second with flash to show the glitter. It looks quite mermaidy to me!

Next up, Stay The Night, which is a mixture of black sand texture and red glitter.  I’d seen this on Pshiiit’s blog, and she shows it without topcoat (as recommended) and with a topcoat… I did 2-3 coats first – I’m not patient with drying so kept denting it!  It looked ok, with a finer texture than the blue, but I couldn’t resist the topcoat…

Not the best photo, but I’d recommend trying it, the red glitter practically glows with a topcoat 🙂

In the end I couldn’t resist the texture and glitter of Get Your Number, so this is my new mani this week:

It was a bit full on for all ten nails, so I made GYN the feature nails with Essie Dive Bar (a deep green-blue with a slight shimmer) on the others.  And after removing Stay The Night I can confirm that removing Liquid Sand polishes is just as much hard work as other glitter lacquers! Arm yourself with some acetone based polish remover and plenty of cotton wool!!

Lastly, I bought my OPI polishes from Lena White and new customers can get 20% off using the code LUXE20 at the checkout. Wish I’d realised when I bought them, although my 10% wasn’t too shabby! Delivery was quick too – mine arrived in about 2 days.
