Spooky Halloween Cats
This week’s prompt on Nail Art Nation was yellow. It really had me stumped, I painted my nails the base colour and then I didn’t know what to do! I tried to stamp with some BundleMonster plates but it was a massive fail. They didn’t even pick up the image 90% of the time.
After fixing the damage from that experiment and making some food, I started an image search for yellow nails and I found this great design by Rina Alcantara. She created these cute black cats on a yellow base. I turned them into Spooky Halloween Cats by using glow in the dark polishes for the background and the eyes!
Polishes and Tools used:
Models Own White Light (a white base helps the polish glow brighter)
Serum No5 Day Glow and Krypton-Brite
Acrylic paint in black and white
Fine tipped detail brushes
Dotting tools
Serum No5 polishes glow really brightly and these are no different. I used dots of the white acrylic paint under the green for the eyes to enhance the glow.
Halloween Cats
I haven’t really been in the mood for Halloween nails so far this month, so these spooky cats are a great way to get into it. All the cats were created freehand with a fine brush and acrylic paint. I made a wide oval and then a skinny neck and triangles for ears. Using an even thinner brush for the whiskers, I started the lines within the cat face so they were thinnest at the end.
Next I used a dotting tool and white acrylic paint for the eyes, which I had to go over to get the opacity I needed. Once dry I used the green polish over the top, using the dotting tool again. Once that had set, I picked up the thinnest brush and a little black acrylic for the detail in the eyes.
