As part of my series inspired by semi-precious stones, I’ve been looking around for my next project. The photo (scroll down) really caught my eye, so I’m trying this Fire Obsidian nail art. It’s an experiment in progress so I think I’ll be coming back and trying this again.

In case you missed it, I’ve had a really good blogging week, and I wanted to share some of my most read posts this week. There’s something for everyone, whether you’re a nail newbie or a nail polish addict.

This is a very long overdue swatch post, but it has some bonus nail art which I hope you enjoy. This time I have Chanel Rouge Red 546 from the spring 2017 collection.
Every year it seems, Chanel come out with a new red polish. They have subtly different colour undertones, so if you already know what suits your skin tone, this should help you make a decision between them.
This is a bit different from my normal blog posts, but I hope you still find it interesting. Before I start, this is not for the squeamish. Just believe me when I say I got nail polish in my eye and it was awful. Don’t let it happen to you, and as soon as you see your polish chipping, take it off and do a fresh manicure.
For the rest of you with stronger constitutions, read on… Read More
Yes, I know this is another green manicure. I’ve honestly been trying to do something different, but this isn’t really my fault. This Mermaid Tail Nail Art is part of this month’s Maniswap challenge, and the prompt was mint green.
I based it on a design from Jane, who is known as Foxxy Nails on Instagram and has a YouTube channel too.
In a very exciting departure, I’m writing about nail art that isn’t green!! I’ve been on a bit of a theme lately, so here’s something different. Along with opal nails, trying to recreate nails that look like semi-precious stones has been a challenge. This Amethyst Crystal Nail Art uses a smooshing technique which worked really well to create the layers and stripes you see in this type of stone.

I’m finally back with some new Chanel Spring 2017 swatches and these posts are always really popular content here. I thought that the colours they chose were more autumnal than spring-like, but Chanel have a new-ish creative director, so maybe that’s why. The last few collections, like Summer 2016, were kind of unexpected shades, unlike some of the candy-inspired colours you expect at this time of year.
In case you missed it, here’s a round up of the Chanel Nail Polish Holiday 2016 Swatches I posted a couple of weeks ago. You will have to be quick if you want one, since these are limited edition polishes! I’ve linked through to my full reviews of each one if you’d like to know more.
I haven’t done a splatter design for ages, but I wanted to try something a bit different. This Gradient Splatter nail art is stamped rather than sprayed, so clean up is a lot quicker and easier!
This week’s challenge on Nail Art Nation was set by me and is Gothic-inspired nail art. Deep, dark and mysterious! I chose to do Gothic Nail Art with lace and roses, and a thermal peek-a-boo black topcoat, which has just the right amount of glitter. I love this design, because the thermal top coat gives it such a changeable look. Read More
