Superchic Lacquer is a new brand to Rainbow Connection (where Annette helpfully enables my polish addiction) and Pheromone is a stand out colour for me. It’s a very bright, chartreuse-leaning yellow holographic. I decided to create some Electric Nail Art to match the bright colour.
In a very exciting departure, I’m writing about nail art that isn’t green!! I’ve been on a bit of a theme lately, so here’s something different. Along with opal nails, trying to recreate nails that look like semi-precious stones has been a challenge. This Amethyst Crystal Nail Art uses a smooshing technique which worked really well to create the layers and stripes you see in this type of stone.
I feel like I’ve really lost my nail art mojo lately. My full-time job is taking a lot out of me at the moment and I think there’s no space left for creativity. Or energy left at the end of the day. I came up with this gradient stamping design because I wanted something with a little more interest than a straightforward stamped mani, which has kind of been my default lately.
It’s still quite simple and quick, and the gold flakes in the base colour show through delightfully.
I am really feeling all the green shades at the moment, so I didn’t really need the excuse of St Patrick’s Day for this design. I was reminded about this super bright green holo polish I had, and added a little stamping to make this St Patrick’s Day nail art.

Welcome back after a longer than anticipated break! I’ve been ill all through December, so I didn’t get to do anywhere near as many manis as I wanted. This design is part of the Maniswap Circle, based on an original design by Nancy. The prompt was black and white, and the finished product looks like a winter storm. Here’s my Stormy Swirly Nail Art Stamping.
Ages ago (this post has been sat in draft for way too long) I created this maniswap for the circle. The colour prompt was grey and silver, and I chose this chevron design from sweetnailsbycandi. The pale grey and holo silver stamping created this chic and speedy design. I always fall back on triangles and chevrons , they just call to me somehow… On to my Chevron nail art…
Yesterday was Crystal’s birthday, who is otherwise known as polish_plebe. She’s a qualified pilot (!) and her favourite colour is blue, so a group of us got together to do some manis for her. Check out my Flying Airplane nail art below!
This week’s challenge on Nail Art Nation was set by me and is Gothic-inspired nail art. Deep, dark and mysterious! I chose to do Gothic Nail Art with lace and roses, and a thermal peek-a-boo black topcoat, which has just the right amount of glitter. I love this design, because the thermal top coat gives it such a changeable look. Read More
I’m a bit off-season, since everyone is into Halloween nails right now! This was a prompt for Nail Art Nation, and I wanted to hit all the Miami highlights. I brought out some soft neon shades into a gradient for Sunset Palms Nail Art. Read More
Fabiana set this art-inspired challenge on NailArtNation this week, and she definitely had me in mind! His artwork is a mixture of colour and monochrome pieces, and I loved the monochrome line work, which had an almost op-art quality about it. I’d like to present my Frank Stella nail art!
