If you’ve never heard the term “holosexual” before, it describes people (like me) obsessed with holographic polish.  All those rainbows… This time I doubled up on it with my Holosexual Rainbow design.  It’s a vertical rainbow of colour across my nails, with extra holographic loveliness.

The manicure needs a bright sunny day so I can blind everyone I meet with my mega rainbow nails!

Holosexual Rainbow how-to

Four easy steps…

  1. Start by lining up your polishes and deciding which order they will go.  Then choose the lightest shade on each nail (for me it was blue, yellow and orange) and paint one or two coats as a base.
  2. To create your own vertical gradient, you’ll need to paint stripes of the different colours on to a makeup sponge, so you can dab the colour on.
  3. Use latex around your nails to protect your skin and make the clean up easier. Don’t let the sponge become dry, or you’ll find little pieces of the sponge stick to your nail as you dab.
  4. Aim for two or three coats, depending on the opacity of the polish. Smooth it out with top coat.

You’re done!

As you can see I got a bit confused and ended up with my blue and green the wrong way round on my ring finger – oops!

I added a coat of My Private Rainbow X  on top for extra rainbow.

St Patrick’s Day

A year ago before this I was on my way to visit my friend Fabiana. I remember travelling was catastrophic in terms of broken nails and by the time I got to see Fabiana I was rocking ultra shorties.

This year I upgraded my vertical gradient with some themed stamping.

To get a gradient effect with the two different stamping polishes, I dotted the at the side of the image, and scraping across blended them… easy!
