Miami Clubbing Sunset Palms Nail Art

I’m a bit off-season, since everyone is into Halloween nails right now! This was a prompt for Nail Art Nation, and I wanted to hit all the Miami highlights. I brought out some soft neon shades into a gradient for Sunset Palms Nail Art Read More

Nude and Gradient Neon French Tip Nail Art

The challenge on Nail Art Nation last week was French tips. I’m not normally a fan of this style, maybe because I find it a bit boring! But I’m not sure if my natural nails are best suited to it anyway. I chose to do a Nude and Neon French Tip with a soft gradient.

Frank Stella nail art Monochrome Lines

Fabiana set this art-inspired challenge on NailArtNation this week, and she definitely had me in mind! His artwork is a mixture of colour and monochrome pieces, and I loved the monochrome line work, which had an almost op-art quality about it. I’d like to present my Frank Stella nail art!

Stamped Mandala Half Moon nail art

Last week’s challenge on NAN was half moons. I was having a bit of a block with nail art generally, and decided on this design the day after the prompt was posted. I quite liked how it turned out. But then forgot to post it, for so long in fact that the next prompt had already gone up. Doh! But if you are looking for a quick and easy way to create some Half Moon nail art, this is perfect.  Read More

Neon Watermarble Starburst Success

After my woeful attempt at watermarbling with my pastel neons (you can click on that if you want to feel better about your own skills) I decided that I needed some neon polishes that were suitable for the job.  I shopped around, and with the able assistance of my US-based polish mule, I got my digits on the Fun Days and Neon Craze collection from In The Name of Polish.  I had to start with a Neon Watermarble Starburst to test them out.

Holographic Stamping on Holo Polish

One of the best things about summer in the UK is that, occasionally, you get brilliant sunshine.  It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it’s the right time to bring out your holo polishes.  Well, in my opinion it’s always the right time for holo, but don’t miss out seeing these polishes in actual bright, direct, natural light. If, like me, you can’t get enough of it, try this Holographic Stamping on holo for some ultimate summer nails.

Holographic Lines (fun with striping tape)

I’ve never been a big fan of striping tape, mostly because I never really got the hang of it.  It never leaves the clean lines I am hoping for, it’s really fiddly and forget about using the tape itself in a design.  I find it always lifts and peels off the nail, despite top coat. But, because Fabiana set it as a challenge on Nail Art Nation, it’s back for one time only. I paired it with pretty polishes to make myself feel better, aka Holographic Lines. Read More
