The events in Manchester last week really shocked me. The audience for an Ariana Grande concert are young people and children, their parents, so it felt particularly callous to me. It’s part of my job to react and deal publicly with these sort of things. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a serving police officer or anything, but I did spend the whole day working on reacting professionally to the bombing, so when I got home all the emotions got to me at once. I decided to add a Worker Bee for Manchester to my nails, to show my respect and support in my own way.
Yes, I know this is another green manicure. I’ve honestly been trying to do something different, but this isn’t really my fault. This Mermaid Tail Nail Art is part of this month’s Maniswap challenge, and the prompt was mint green.
I based it on a design from Jane, who is known as Foxxy Nails on Instagram and has a YouTube channel too.
Superchic Lacquer is a new brand to Rainbow Connection (where Annette helpfully enables my polish addiction) and Pheromone is a stand out colour for me. It’s a very bright, chartreuse-leaning yellow holographic. I decided to create some Electric Nail Art to match the bright colour.
I got so excited when I saw this polish was available through Rainbow Connection. It’s full of glitters that change colour depending on the angle you see them from. This is my first polish from this brand, and it’s inspired by Friends. Native War Paints The One With The… is a beautiful polish.

This design is part of the Maniswap Circle, based on an original design by Nancy. The prompt was black and white, and the finished product looks like a winter storm. Here’s my Stormy Swirly Nail Art Stamping.
I had the chance recently to do a maniswap with TaliaLouise on Instagram. This Neon Love nail art design is from way back (and much copied) and it’s a great design. It was also what inspired me to go looking for a new, true neon blue polish. Read More
I definitely see marble backgrounds everywhere on social media, it seems to be the default for flatlays and beauty bloggers. After seeing Jamie of Tanned Beauty Addict, who showed off her great marble nails on Instagram, I wanted to try White Marble nail art for myself!
This week’s challenge on Nail Art Nation was set by me and is Gothic-inspired nail art. Deep, dark and mysterious! I chose to do Gothic Nail Art with lace and roses, and a thermal peek-a-boo black topcoat, which has just the right amount of glitter. I love this design, because the thermal top coat gives it such a changeable look. Read More
This seems to have been released by Chanel in between their seasonal collections, so I’m seeing it as something of a transition shade? It’s not long until the Christmas colours …

After my brief sojourn back to summer with my Miami-themed Sunset Palms design, I’m into the Halloween designs now. This is actually a #maniswapcircle design, reproduced in orange and black for the season. If you’d like some unique Halloween Nail Art, these are perfect. Read More
